Monel 400 is a copper nickel alloy that shows good resistance to acidic and alkaline environments. This high performing material shows high strength along with good ductility and thermal conductivity.Regent Steel & Engineering Co.manufactures high quality monel 400 pipes as per the recommended industry standards.
They are supplied to various industries for their corrosion resistance properties in marine and chemical environments. They also have good weldability and moderate to high strength. The AMS 4574 pipe shows higher resistance to reducing than oxidizing media.
It possesses good mechanical properties from subzero to 480 °C.They can resist hydrofluoric and sulphuric acid, but aeration will increase the corrosion rate.Monel 400 material can also withstand neutral, alkaline, and acid salts.Due to their resistance to chloride ion related stress corrosion cracking, the material is used in marine applications.
Even though the alloy 400 pipe is highly resistant to corrosion, it is not entirely rust proof. It shows resistance to a wide range of corrosions like salt water, different chemicals and general atmospheric. It can also withstand pitting and crevice corrosion.
Even after such properties, the material can get corroded especially when exposed to an extremely aggressive environment.Even though the corrosion rate will be quite low and the material will maintain its structural integrity.

Monel 400 seamless pipe
UNS N04400 pipe
Monel 400 seamless pipe has a wide working temperature range of 20-600 °C.The material is able to retain its strength in elevated temperature conditions and is hence used in heat exchangers, furnaces, etc.Monel 400 material also shows good resistance to oxidation and creep.
The microstructure of the alloy remains stable at a high temperature and it can withstand short-term exposure to even higher temperatures than its limit.

Alloy 400 and monel 400 are often used interchangeably and refer to the same copper nickel alloy. The Nickelvac® 400 hot finished pipe shows excellent resistance to corrosion, especially in marine and chemical environments. The material also possesses high strength and good mechanical properties.
The hardness of UNS N04400 pipe can vary with the manufacturing process, heat treatment applied and the pipe thickness.Generally, monel 400 material has a moderate hardness within the range of 65-80 HRC.However, the hardness can be controlled through heat treatment processes, such as annealing.Cold working can also increase the hardness of the pipe.
Both the material comes with their unique properties, and the right choice between them will depend on your application requirements.
