Duplex is a type of stainless steel that has austenite and ferrite grain phases in the microstructure.This is why the material possesses properties of both phases.The duplex round bars have relatively higher strength along with improved ductility and toughness.
The material also shows good resistance to corrosion.This is due to the chemical composition which contains materials like nickel, chromium, molybdenum, iron and other alloying elements.
The duplex stainless steel round bar is a cost-effective option for applications that require high strength and corrosion resistance.Thus, they are found in manifolds, raisers, etc., in the oil & gas industry.
Even though duplex steel shows good resistance to oxidation, it cannot be used in elevated temperature conditions.This is due to the formation of a brittle phase for ferrite at relatively low temperatures.
