904l Stainless Steel is a non-stabilized austenitic grade that has low carbon content. They have added copper in the alloy which enhances its resistance to strong reducing acids. The 904l stainless steel plate can resist crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. They are non-magnetic and comes with great formability, toughness and weldability.Due to the presence of costly elements in the chemical composition, the Werkstoff Nr.1.4539 checker plate is quite expensive.
They also offer good resistance to inorganic acids like hot phosphoric acids and most organic acids. They can be welded and processed by the standard shop processes. The UNS N08904 cold rolled plate can be used in industries like air pollution control, metallurgical & chemical processing, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, etc.
The 904l stainless steel sheet can retain its corrosion resistance and mechanical properties up to 538 °C.However, the maximum temperature can depend on the exposure duration, type and concentration of the corrosive substance in the environment, oxidation, creep & stress relaxation and also the surface finish.

The Stainless steel 904l plate material is a highly corrosion resistant austenitic stainless steel that can withstand a wide range of corrosive environments. This can include different types of acids and corrosive chemicals. However, they can become susceptible to rusting if proper cleaning or maintenance is not done.Improper usage in incompatible environments and lack of the right surface finish can also cause rusting. Also, they should be stored in proper conditions to avoid any kind of rusting.

In the annealed condition, stainless steel 904L coil has moderate hardness. The specific hardness varies with the manufacturing process, finishing and if any cold work is applied.Generally, their hardness range between 90-150 HB.904L is less machinable due to the high alloy content. It can get work hardened during the machining process.
The Stainless steel 904L hot rolled plate has a low rockwell number and hence it is not more scratch resistant. This property is similar to other austenitic stainless steel grades.
